Sen. Mullis Announces He Will Seek Re-Election
ATLANTA (March 26, 2014) | State Sen. Jeff Mullis (R – Chickamauga) has announced he will seek re-election to the District 53 seat. A trusted legislator, community member and friend, Sen. Mullis was first elected to the Georgia State Senate in 2000 and has served seven two-year terms. Sen. Mullis is currently the chair of the Senate Rules Committee, chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Economic Development, and a member of the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions, Economic Development and Appropriations Committees.
“District 53 is one of the best places in Georgia to both run a business and raise a family, and I want to make sure it stays that way. It has been an absolute honor to serve as the state senator from District 53, and I look forward to continuing to my work to preserve the best interests of Catoosa County, Chattooga County, Dade County and Walker County.” said Sen. Mullis.
Sen. Mullis has been recognized several times as one of Georgia Trend magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in Georgia,” and by James magazine as one of the “Most Influential Political Leaders in Georgia.” In addition, he has been the recipient of numerous awards and recognition for his legislative service, including the Zell Miller Public Policy Leadership Award, the Georgia Municipal Association’s Champion of Georgia Cities Award (three time winner) and the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia’s Legislative Service Award (four time winner). Sen. Mullis has also been recognized by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) for his support of the GBI’s DNA database and by Get Georgia Moving and the Metro Atlanta Chamber for his work on transportation issues.
Sen. Mullis was born and raised in Chickamauga and currently serves as an Economic Developer in Northwest Georgia. He is married to Teresa Nichols of Dade County and has three children. He is also a member of the Chickamauga First Baptist Church.
